Osprey Week Spring 2023-Desert Backpacking
Osprey Block Fall 2023-Wilderness Exploration and Landscape Studies
Reflection:
1. Write a brief description of the project for your DP.
My final project for the Wilderness Exploration and Landscape Studies was a paper on how uranium mining has affected the Colorado River. The paper included the history of uranium mining, how uranium mining is affecting animals and fish species, and how many people rely on the water from the Colorado River.
2. How did you connect to this project? What did you like the most? What was your best moment during the course of the project?
I personally connected with this project because I got to really dive into one topic. It was very boring and difficult at times but I got really into the research I was doing and I'm surprised by how much I learnt about my topic.
3. How was this project difficult? What was most challenging? Describe a moment when you had to persevere through something difficult.
The project itself wasn't necessarily difficult to do but staying focused on one topic the entire day for multiple days. Only working on one project and putting everything together all day was the most difficult part for me.
4. What did you learn about yourself during this project? (as a learner, collaborator, leader, actor, etc.) Be specific.
I learnt that I am more of a collaborator than I thought I was. Usually I stick to working alone which I did for my final project but during the week of our trip I found that I was collaborating with people I usually don't hangout with and effectively communicating with them.
